Jets sign forward Vladislav Namestnikov to a two-year contract


The Winnipeg Jets announced today they have agreed to terms with forward Vladislav Namestnikov on a two-year contract with an average annual value of $2,000,000.

Namestnikov, 30, was acquired by the Jets on March 3 and played 20 games, recording 10 points (2G, 8A) and 16 penalty minutes. He posted two assists and two PIMs in five playoff games. Namestnikov also played 57 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning last season and had 15 points (6G, 9A) and 19 PIMs. The Zhukovsky, Russia native has played 630 games for Winnipeg, Tampa Bay, Dallas, Detroit, Colorado, Ottawa, and the New York Rangers. Namestnikov has recorded 261 points (115G, 146A) and 331 PIMs in the regular season and added 13 points (6G, 7A) and 26 PIMs in 53 playoff games.

Namestnikov played his junior hockey with the OHL’s London Knights and posted 139 points (52G, 87A) and 99 PIMs in 131 games. He won the 2012 OHL Championship with London before losing in overtime in the 2012 Memorial Cup final.

Internationally, Namestnikov has represented Russia on multiple occasions, highlighted by the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and the 2017 World Championships. He scored a goal in three games at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey as Russia fell to Canada in the semi-final. Namestnikov had six points (3G, 3A) and eight PIMs in 10 games to help Russia win the bronze medal at the 2017 World Championships.
