The Winnipeg Jets announced today the winners of their regular season year-end awards for the 2022-23 regular season.
The Three Stars Award was presented to goaltender Connor Hellebuyck as the Jets player to receive the most ‘Three Stars’ honours in 2022-23. The 29-year-old has been the model of consistent excellence for Winnipeg: winning this award five times in the past six seasons. The Commerce, Mich. native shares the NHL lead for goaltenders in games played (62) and is second in minutes (3,658). Hellebuyck also ranks in the league’s top-five in wins (T-4th: 35), shutouts (T-4th: 4), save percentage (T-5th: .919), shots against (3rd: 1,909), and saves (2nd: 1,755).
The Wawanesa Insurance Community Service Award was presented to forward Blake Wheeler for his commitment to the community. During his 15 seasons in the NHL, including every campaign since the Jets returned to Winnipeg, the 36-year-old has been a fixture on and off the ice. This is the second time in the last three years that Wheeler was honoured with the Wawanesa Insurance Community Service Award. For the fourth consecutive year, the Wheeler family was the presenting sponsor for CancerCare Manitoba Foundation’s Ride Inside event, which raised over $250,000. The Wheelers also made gift donations to both the Christmas Cheer Board and the Children’s Hospital over the holidays. Wheeler has also been an ongoing ambassador and supporter of the True North Youth Foundation and in 2022-23 he’s been active with Project 11, including multiple school visits and student interviews.
Finally, the Dan Snyder Memorial Award is awarded each year to the Winnipeg Jets player who embodies perseverance, dedication and hard work without reward or recognition, so that his team and teammates might succeed. Forward Adam Lowry was presented with the Dan Snyder Memorial Award for the 2022-23 season. Lowry has set new single-season career highs for points (33) and assists (22), while he leads the Jets and ranks top-10 in the NHL with three shorthanded goals. The St. Louis, Miss. native leads all Jets forwards in shorthanded time-on-ice (179:26) and shorthanded time-on-ice per game (2:16). Lowry also demonstrates his hard work by leading Winnipeg forwards in hits (158) and shorthanded faceoffs (193).
