The Winnipeg Jets, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, today announced that defenceman Josh Morrissey has been selected to participate in the 2023 NHL All-Star Game. The 2023 NHL All-Star Weekend is being hosted by the Florida Panthers at FLA Live Arena on Feb. 3-4, 2023.

Morrissey, 27, is in his seventh full season in the NHL, all with the Jets franchise. The Calgary, Alta. native leads the Jets and is fifth in the NHL with 36 assists, while his 23:20 time-on-ice per game and plus-12 rating pace Winnipeg and his 43 points ranks second only to Kyle Connor. Among NHL defencemen, Morrissey is tied for the most game-winning goals (4) and overtime markers (2) and he ranks second in points (43), even-strength points (27), and assists (36). He is also among the top-10 NHL blueliners in goals (T-9th: 7), even-strength goals (T-3rd: 6), and powerplay points (T-4th: 16).

Morrissey is enjoying a breakout season and has already set new single-season career highs in points (43), assists (36), powerplay points (16), and game winning goals (4). He also set a franchise record with an 11-game assist streak from Dec. 4-22/22. Morrissey was also named the NHL’s Second Star for the week ending on Nov. 27/22, his first such selection in his career. This will be Josh Morrissey‘s first NHL All-Star Game appearance after Kyle Connor was the Jets representative in the 2022 NHL All-Star Game in Las Vegas, Nev.

The 2023 NHL All-Star Fan Vote campaign will allow fans to elect two skaters and one goalie per division, for a total of 12 players. The highest vote-getters by division will then be added to their respective All-Star rosters. Fans can vote at NHL.com/Vote starting tonight through 11:59pm ET on Tuesday, Jan. 17 and from Jan. 12-14 on Twitter using the hashtag #AllStarFanVote. Winnipeg has several past All-Stars who should garner NHL fans’ votes, most notably goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck, the 2020 Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL’s top goaltender, leads the league in shutouts (3) and saves (869), while he is second in wins (19) and save percentage (.928).
