The Winnipeg Jets announced today they have agreed to terms with defenceman Luca Sbisa on a one-year contract with an average annual value of $800,000.
Sbisa, 30, had 10 points (2G, 8A) and 37 penalty minutes in 44 games for the Jets last season. He has appeared in 548 games during his 12-season NHL career with six different teams, collecting 113 points (20G, 93A) and 385 PIMs. Sbisa has also played in 32 career playoff games and posted eight points (1G, 7A) and 34 PIMs.
Sbisa has appeared internationally for Switzerland on several occasions, including the 2010 Olympic Games and 2011 and 2012 World Championships. He also played for Team Europe under Jets head coach Paul Maurice at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Sbisa was originally selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round (19th overall) in the 2008 NHL Draft.
