  • Despite being limited to just 48 games, he led all Manitoba Moose defenceman in assists (22) and points (26), those 22 assists were second among all Moose skaters
  • Ranked ninth among AHL rookie defencemen in points (26) and 10th in assists (22)
  • Had four multi-point performances, including his first two-assist game on Dec. 6/19 at Chicago
  • Was riding a three-game point streak (2G, 2A) when the AHL season was paused
  • Scored his first game winning goal (also his first power play marker) on Mar. 1/20 at Chicago
  • Scored his first AHL goal and added an assist for his first multi-point game on Nov. 17/19 at San Antonio

Professional Career

Amateur Career

  • Won Cape Breton’s Eastlink Trophy as the club’s Top Defenceman and the Tim Hortons Trophy for Outstanding Community Involvement
  • Led all QMJHL defencemen in goals (17), tied for third in points (57), and was seventh in assists (40) in 2018-19, those were all team-highs among Cape Breton blueliners and career-highs for Gawanke
  • Totalled 121 points (29G, 92A) and 91 PIMs in three seasons for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles
  • Made three consecutive postseasons for Cape Breton and recorded 13 points (4G, 9A) and 13 PIMs in 27 games

International Career

  • Has represented Germany on numerous occasions, including three consecutive D-1A World Junior Championships from 2017-2019, culminating in helping the Germans gain promotion from D-1A to the 2020 World Juniors
