The Winnipeg Jets announced today they have acquired forward Cody Eakin from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft. Should the Jets qualify for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs OR re-sign Eakin to a new contract on, or before, July 5, 2020 then the Jets will instead transfer their 2021 third-round pick to the Golden Knights. The Jets also announced they have assigned forward Andrei Chibisov to the Manitoba Moose.

Eakin, who was born and raised in Winnipeg, has played 41 games for the Golden Knights this season and has ten points (4G, 6A) and 16 penalty minutes. The 28-year-old has played in 578 NHL games for Vegas, the Dallas Stars, and the Washington Capitals and has recorded 232 points (102G, 130A) and 242 PIMs. Eakin, Washington’s third round pick (85th overall) in the 2009 NHL Draft, has also skated in 46 playoff games for the Golden Knights and Stars and has 19 points (8G, 11A) and 29 PIMs.
